It is with excitement that I announce on behalf of the Paroa School Board of Trustees the appointment of Mr Jon Keelty to Principal at Paroa School with a commencement date of the 22nd July 2024 (Day 1 Term 3). We look forward to welcoming Mr Keelty and his wife Mrs Sue Keelty to our kura and our wonderful region. We know you will share in our excitement and will extend them the warmest welcome when they arrive.
I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to the BOT being, Sharon Gibson, Andrew Sinton-White, Carrie Coghlan, Fiona Cropp and Erin Connelly for their generous time and attention to this matter and to John Armstrong (Recruitment Consultant) for his guidance and expertise as we have worked through this process.

Kia ora koutou katoa!
My name is Jon and my wife, Sue, and I are so excited to join your school and community in July. We have both been teaching for over 30 years and have been living and working in different schools, both in New Zealand and overseas. I started my career in a small rural primary school in Cambridge before moving to Cheviot Area School for eight years, where we raised our three sons before taking them to Hong Kong. After a long time in busy international schools, Sue and I are both looking forward to being back in a rural community and enjoying a more relaxed pace of life on the wonderful West Coast! I would like to thank Kelly and the Board for this opportunity. I am thrilled and grateful to be offered the Tumuaki role at Paroa School. I will do my best to serve the Paroa community and help all our kids be the best that they can be. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you all, soon!
Ngā mihi nui
